Ryuo island is a small, uninhabited island in the Seto Inland Sea, about 1.6 km in circumference. The island features natural scenery such as flowers and sandy beaches, and from its gentle hills, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea.


Easy for travelers to enjoy
It takes about an hour by train from Hiroshima City to Akitsu, where the uninhabited island is located. From the mainland of Akitsu to Ryuo island, it takes about 8 minutes by ferry. Online reservations and payments are also available.
Well-equipped despite being uninhabited
Necessary equipment for camping and BBQs is available for rental. The island also features flush toilets and shower facilities, all available for use. Additionally, staff are on-site both day and night.

Campsite
Located on a gentle hill with a good view, the campsite has 16 sites and can accommodate up to 80 people.

BBQ Area & Kitchen Building
The BBQ area can accommodate up to 60 people, and the kitchen building is equipped with stoves, sinks, and water supply.

Beach
There is a beautiful sandy beach on the island. For safety reasons, swimming is not allowed, but you can enjoy walking along the beach or reading by the seaside.

Wooden Deck
From the wood deck, you can view the beautiful island-dotted scenery of the Seto Inland Sea, oyster rafts, and, on clear days, even the mountains of Shikoku.

Access to Ryuo island
Ryuo island is an uninhabited island in the Seto Inland Sea in Akitsu, Higashi Hiroshima City. Therefore, there are no regular ferry services to the island.
If you do not have your own boat, please board the designated ferry to Ryuo island from the specified boarding location.
By Car
It's about a 70-minute drive from Hiroshima City, a 60-minute drive from Kure City, and a 40-minute drive from Hiroshima Airport to the ferry boarding point for Ryuo island.
- Please park your car in the designated area. It takes about 1 minute (150m) to walk from the parking lot to the boarding point. For detailed information about the parking location, please check the link below.
By Public Transport
The nearest stations to the ferry boarding point for Ryuo island are JR Kure Line "Akitsu Station" (about 4 minutes by taxi, 2 km) and "Kazahaya Station" (about 3 minutes by taxi, 1.7 km).

There are no food and drink sales on Ryuo island. Please make sure to stock up your supplies before heading to the island.

The 'Fureai Ichiba' gathers local businesses, farmers, sake breweries, and others to sell their products, making it a treasure trove of local food ingredients. They offer local specialties such as Akitsu potatoes, as well as a variety of meats and seafood necessary for BBQ.

Please bring your own drinking water. The island’s water comes from underground and is not safe to drink unless it is boiled. Always boil it before drinking. -

Yes, you can. We recommend purchasing supplies from nearby stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores before coming to the island. -
Q . Can we buy BBQ ingredients and charcoal on the island?
No, food and charcoal are not sold on the island, so we recommend bringing your own. -
Q . Is there an area where we can make a direct fire?
Direct fires are only allowed in the fire circle around the cooking facility. -
Q . Can we rent BBQ grills on the day of use?
If available, you can rent BBQ grills on the day of use. The rental fee will be charged to the credit card registered at the time of reservation. -

There is no designated lights-out time, but to ensure everyone can use the island facilities comfortably, please limit conversations, eating, and drinking around the cooking area after 22:00. -

The boat can carry up to 11 adults. If you have a lot of luggage, please consider the boat's capacity and balance.

Q . Can I change my reservation after booking?
Changes such as the date, time, number of people, or options can be made if requested before 17:00, 7 days prior to the intended date of use. You can proceed with the changes using the URL provided in the reservation completion email. If the deadline has passed, please contact the designated inquiry contact. Additionally, please note that fees cannot be refunded for cancellations or reductions in the number of people after 7 days prior to the intended date of use. -
Q . Can I cancel or still use the island in case of rain? Also, when will it be decided if the boat does not operate due to bad weather?
You can still use the island if the boat operates in rainy weather. In this case, cancellations within seven days of the usage date due to user convenience are non-refundable. If boat operation or facility use is deemed impossible due to typhoons or other reasons, the Higashi Hiroshima City Silver Human Resources Center will notify you by 5 PM the day before. In such cases, the usage fee will be refunded.

We have a first aid kit, but there is no dedicated first aid facility. -
Q . What should we do in case of a sudden illness or emergency?
If a medical emergency occurs on the island, please contact the staff immediately. After assessing the situation, appropriate measures will be taken, such as transporting the injured or ill person to the nearest ferry landing by staff or ferry personnel. However, depending on weather conditions or the time of occurrence, immediate transportation may not be possible, so please refrain from risky behavior or excessive alcohol consumption.
