Fukubijin Sake Brewery

A brewery that has nurtured both sake and people

Fukubijin Sake Brewery, founded in 1917 through the dedication of sake brewers in western Japan, is a historic brewery renowned for its exceptional technical expertise, earning it the title “Saijo Sake Brewery School”. It has a long history of training numerous master brewers and sake brewing technicians.

The name comes from Fukujin, which was the name of a local region at the time the brewery was established, and a brewing philosophy that aims for a flavor that is as “plump and gentle as a beautiful woman (bijin).” The brewery continues to produce sake with a soft and gentle flavor using water from the “Bijin Well” located on site.

The Ebisu warehouse, with its towering red brick chimney, is a landmark for tourists. The retro atmosphere of the building makes it a popular photo spot. The direct sales store offers visitors a valuable perspective of the intersection of sake and history. You can see the sake barrel that was used to collect donations during the founding era of the Hiroshima Carp baseball team and “National Sake” calligraphy papers signed by various prime ministers of Japan.
