Discover Hiroshima-style traditional sake brewing at a restored Meiji-era sake brewery

On the Saijotsuru Sake Brewery “Sake Brewery Story Experience Tour,” visitors can see Hiroshima-style traditional sake brewing in a restored Meiji-era sake brewery.

During the brewing season, you can hear the sounds of fermenting mash while experiencing the charm of the sake brewery at a leisurely pace on this small-group tour. In addition to the guided tour where you can learn about the sake brewing process, visitors can also enjoy sake tastings (for a separate fee).

In addition, the direct sales store offers souvenirs that are available only directly from the brewery. Enjoy special moments steeped in history and tradition.

Tour guide: Ione

Ione is from the Basque region of Spain. She has lived in Higashihiroshima for nearly 20 years, cultivating a deep affection for Japanese culture. As a certified SSI Sake Navigator, Ione is fascinated by the role of microorganisms and the craftsmanship of the brewers, and pours her passion into conveying the world of sake in an accessible and captivating way.

    ・Payment is accepted by credit card only.
    ・Please refrain from eating excessive amounts of natto (fermented soybeans) the day before and on the day of the tour, as it could affect your sense of taste.
    ・Sake cannot be served to individuals who are driving a vehicle, riding a bicycle, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
    ・Please avoid using strongly scented hair care products or perfumes, as they could interfere with your tasting experience.
    ・There are steep stairs in the brewery. It can be dangerous to enter the brewery while under the influence of alcohol, and therefore the staff reserves the right to refuse entry at their discretion. Note that refunds will not be issued for cancellations made for this reason.
